Removing, disposing of, or relocating an AGA, Rayburn, or similar heritage cast-iron range cooker is not a standard job. These appliances weigh between 250kg and 700kg, are often built into the fabric of a period property, and require careful engineering at every stage. Removal & Disposal
We carry out full removals for cookers that are no longer wanted or have reached the end of their working life. Cast-iron range cookers cannot go through standard waste or skip routes, and the weight and composition of these appliances means they need specialist handling. Many people find themselves stuck with something they cannot move through normal channels.
We manage the entire process from start to finish, including older appliances where legacy materials such as asbestos rope seals require careful management. Before committing to disposal, we will also advise honestly on whether any part of the appliance has residual or salvage value, as older models do have a secondary market and it is worth knowing your options.
We remove all heritage cast-iron range cookers including electric models. (Note: we do not currently repair or service electric models. See our other pages for full servicing details.)
Relocation
We also manage complete relocations for customers moving house, renovating, or repositioning a cooker within the same property:
- • Full disconnection from gas, LPG, or oil supply
- • Safe dismantling of AGA sections, or single-unit movement of Rayburns using appropriate equipment
- • Enamel and casting protection throughout transit
- • Rebuilding and full reassembly at the destination address
- • Recommissioning and safety checks before we leave
Why This Work Needs a Specialist
Cast-iron range cookers cannot be handled like standard appliances, and the differences between models matter. An AGA must be fully dismantled into its component sections for transport, while a Rayburn is moved as a single unit using specialist equipment. Using the wrong approach causes serious and often irreparable damage.

- • Damage to floors, doorways, and worktops if the route is not planned properly
